Cinco obras de Antonio Orlando Rodríguez fueron incluidas en el libro Essential Guide to Spanish Reading: Librarians’ Selections (Guía Esencial para la Lectura en Español: selecciones de los bibliotecarios), que reúne títulos recomendados para los lectores hispanos y para personas residentes en Estados Unidos que leen en español.500-201 Se trata de las novelas para adultos Chiquita (Premio Alfaguara de Novela 2008) y Aprendices de brujo (Rayo/HarperCollins), y de las obras para lectores infantiles El rock de la momia y otros versos diversos (Alfaguara), La isla viajera (Panamericana Editorial) y La gata de los pintores (Panamericana Editorial).
